Can you believe it's almost Christmas? How did that happen so fast? With all the craziness of the holidays I've been slacking on my blogging, so I have 3 new kits and 4 new template packs to show you by JennCk Designs!

The first two layouts use Old World, Modern Style Templates Vol 11 and Paper Inspired Templates Vol 11. It's such a fun Christmas kit with a vintage-y feel to it! I think the pine needles are my favorite part of the kit!

The third layout was made with Glisten and Modern Style Templates Vol 10. I love the soft soothing color scheme and all the fun flowers and snowflakes! I used it to scrap a picture of my little one posing in front of our first REAL Christmas tree! He's so silly!

The last layout uses Timeless Traditions and October 2 Template Pack. I used it to scrap a picture of our first home! :) The template pack is actually an old one that is part of Jenn's product retirement sale! You get the pack of four templates for only $1! My little one is still afraid of Santa. He wouldn't even speak to Santa until he offered him a candy cane. It kind of makes me laugh. He's just not a fan of people dressed in costumes. Don't even get me started with the Easter Bunny. It's okay, it just gives us the opportunity to have a family portrait! :) And I still enjoy the fact that he still wants me to hold him. That won't last forever you know! I used Who-Village Elements and Paper Pack and Modern Templates Vol 9 by JennCk Designs to scrap our family photo! I love the cute ornaments and flowers in this kit! I haven't scrapped in a while - I've been in kind of a bummer mood lately and it drains me of my creativity. But I was really excited to play with this new kit by Studio Rosey Posey called Finding Jenny. She based it off of the movie Forrest Gump and it is packed full of fabulousness. I used it to scrap a pic of me and my Grandma and Dad. It's always fun to get a picture with 3 generations!

I've been sick with this stupid cold/flu bug this whole week so I've been on the computer a bit more and made another layout! My family has a Fall Festival every year up in Utah where we go to the Pumpkin Patch, see the witches at Gardner's Village and have a little Halloween Party. I was excited to use this kit to scrap a picture of my little man and I on a Tractor at Hee-Haw Farms! :) It was a really fun weekend even if it was freezing almost the whole time! I used Autumn Walk Element Pack, Autumn Walk Paper Pack, and Modern Style Templates Vol. 4 by JennCk Designs. Tomorrow (Oct 16th) is the last day that each of the pieces are only $1 each! It's been a little while since I created a layout without using a template. I love templates. They take less effort which is useful when you have a 3 year old! But this time I decided I would challenge myself a bit and create a layout where the sketch is all my own. I used About You by Studio Rosey Posey. Her kits make it easy to put a layout together. My favorite part of the kit is the wing stamp. I think it really made my layout pop! But the best part is my little one's cute face. Why can't they stay little forever? I love that baby face!

I love Halloween time! It's one of my favorite times of the year! I love that the weather is cooling down (if 92 degrees is considered cooler?) I love that I can start making soups for dinner, and of course I love picking out costumes!! I also love all of the fun Halloween kits that are being released! JennCk Designs just released this new kit called Midnight! It's October! How did that happen so fast? This year is flying by! It's still 100+ degrees here in fabulous Las Vegas. I'm hoping for some cooler weather soon! Songbird Waterfall Hybrid Card

I haven't made any hybrids for a while so I'm excited to show off a fun hybrid card I just made! The hybrid template I used is by Wendybird Designs called Waterfall Vol. 1: Square. I don't know how she comes up with all these ideas, but they are fabulous! When you pull on the string it shows off all the different little pictures on each of the squares and then reveals the longest part where you can put a cute sentiment. It's such a fun and unique card template! The kit I used is called Songbird by Studio Rosey Posey, Studio Boutique Cute Doll and Studio Thaty. I also used the Add-on Papers and Extras. Isn't it an adorable kit? I love the color scheme and all of the cute birdies! My favorite is the chubby yellow one in the Extras! So cute! And since I was going with the songbird theme I used the quote "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song." I ended up sending it to my sister. I hope it brightens her day! :)

My little one absolutely loves making cookies with his Momma. It's one of his favorite things to do! So I was excited to scrap some pictures of him being a cookie chef with this adorable kit by Scrappin' Daisies Designs called Cookie Mouth! It's full of fun cookie elements and I love the splash of green with the neutrals! My sister gave me the best chocolate chip cookie recipe out there and I will never use another recipe so I thought I'd share it with y'all! And I will say "You're Welcome" in advance since I know you will love this recipe! :)

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies EVER!!

1 c butter flavored Crisco
¾ c white granulated sugar
¾ c light brown sugar
1 t pure vanilla extract
2 eggs 1 t baking soda
1 t salt 2 ½ c white flour
1 bag Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips (This is the brand I prefer because they are larger
size chocolate chips and they taste the BEST!!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray pans with cooking spray. Beat Crisco, sugars, vanilla, and eggs until mixed well. Add dry ingredients slowly and then mix in chocolate chips. Use small scooper to place twelve even sized balls on cookie sheet. Bake for exactly 11 minutes. Makes four dozen cookies. (Note: If you half the recipe, still use the full teaspoon of baking soda.) Enjoy! :)

Easter is Almost Here!

Can you believe it? It seems like we just finished up Christmas and now it's almost Easter! Where does the time go? I am really excited for Easter this year! My little boy is getting old enough to do fun activities and he is also getting old enough to start to understand what Easter is really all about; our Savior's resurrection!

I have another cute mini from Studio Rosey Posey to show you! It's called Feather Friend and it is full of adorable little birds and artsy elements! The other day I was watching an episode of Special Agent Oso with my son where they showed how to make bird feeders out of pine cones, peanut butter and bird seed. This really intrigued my son so we decided to make some bird feeders! I remember doing this when I was little and it was so fun! My little boy loved it! So now they are hanging on a branch on a tree in our backyard. I don't think we have had a single bird come and eat off of it (maybe it's because we're in the desert?) but it sure looks cute! This was the perfect kit to scrap a layout of our bird feeder making adventure!

Angie from Down This Road Designs created these adorable LDS Baptism themed kits called Look For Rainbows! The name was inspired by the LDS Primary song When I am Baptized. If you click on the link you can actually download the sheet music for free! I love that she made a boy version and a girl version of the kit. And even though these kits are LDS Baptism themed, you can use them for lots of other types of layouts! They are also great for other non-LDS Baptism photos! I used the boy kit to create a layout of my little one flying his new kite! Doesn't the picture in my layout make you excited it's spring? Blended Templates Bundle 04 by Studio Rosey Posey

I love the look of blended photos, but I can't ever seem to get my blending to look just right! So I love these new Blended Templates by Studio Rosey Posey! They are all gorgeous and make creating a layout so easy! I love how the main focus is on the photos and not all the little elements! Each template is a combination of a mini kit and a template in one. You can either just add your pictures and journaling and be done or use the templates with a completely different kit since they are all in psd format! Either way you'll end up with a gorgeous layout! For my first layout I used template 17 and then used some elements from Discovery of The Heart. I thought the ribbon in that kit matched well with his shirt! And lucky me, that layout was chosen as Layout of The Day at Brownie Scraps! Yay! Thanks Shelly! For my second layout I documented another trip to art class with Being Me by Studio Rosey Posey and Studio Tangie. Gotta document those fun pinwheels! :) I think it turned out cute! :)

When I saw the city scape I thought it would be the perfect kit to scrap a layout of my DH and I! We hardly ever go on dates anymore because I hate leaving my little one with a babysitter! Saint Patrick's Day Fun!

Are you doing anything fun for St. Patrick's Day this year? We're having a fun little "green" potluck lunch for the playgroup my son and I go to. It should be fun! I was trying to explain to my son that we wear green on St. Patrick's Day so no one will pinch you! He didn't really understand and just kept laughing at me! He was like, "So they don't pinch me? What??? You're funny Mommy!" :p He's so silly!

Sometimes it can be so hard to find cute boy kits, so I was really excited about this new collaboration kit called It's a Guy Thing by Down This Road Designs and Scraps by Mara! It has so many fun boy elements in it and the color scheme is perfect! Since I am on Down This Road Designs' Hybrid Team I made a cute pop up card! My favorite elements in this kit are the frog and the little bug so I had to add them to my card! Isn't that little froggy adorable? When I showed my little boy he said, "Oh that is beautiful Mommy! I really like it!" lol! I don't know about "beautiful" but I think it turned out pretty cute! :)

Spring has finally arrived! Today it was 79 degrees here in sunny Las Vegas, NV! It is really windy in Las Vegas though so it didn't quite feel that warm, but it was still a beautiful day! We even saw "popcorn" on some of the trees! I just love it when the blossoms start blooming! It makes me happy! I have a fun kit to share with you from Studio Rosey Posey called Today. The flowers in it are gorgeous and it made me even more excited for spring! I used it to create a layout of one of our first family pictures! My friend took them at a beautiful park in Coppell, TX! Looking at this picture makes me miss two things: Texas and my little boy being little! I love watching him grow, but I miss him being so cute and tiny! He's still cute, but not tiny anymore!! lol!

Being Me - An Art Journal Collaboration Extraodinaire!

I am so excited to show to you this fabulous art journal kit by Studio Tangie and Studio Rosey Posey called Being Me! I consider myself a traditional scrapbooker, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate and see beauty in all types of scrapbooking! If you are like me, you might not know exactly what Art Journaling is! So I'm going to share with you a definition I found on about.com:

What is Art Journaling?

An art journal is a visual journal or diary, rather than a traditional diary or journal filled only with words. It’s a place where you give physical form to your thoughts, expectations and dreams, realities and events, everyday events and exceptional occasions. While an art journal can/does include memories, it’s not limited to these; it’s also about personal reflections, philosophies or observations. It’s for all sides of yourself, from expressing the childlike aspects of yourself that ‘responsible adults’ may scorn, to your darkest side and secrets. It’s for when you’re at home and when you’re traveling.

Whether you create the art or visuals in response to something you want to journal, or whether you use art as a starting point, doesn’t matter. Anything and everything goes: painting, drawing, pen and ink, doodling and noodling, stamping, photos, and collage.

An art journal is somewhere to save ideas, while a scrapbook is somewhere to save memories. A scrapbook is the intended end result, whereas an art journal is just a step on the path of creation. An art journal is a time capsule of your creativity.

So there you have it! Now you know what Art Journaling is!! I love the last part that says "An art journal is a time capsule of your creativity!" Sounds kind of romantic! I must take the plunge and try art journaling for myself! It sounds fabulous!! I already have ideas in my head of what I want to try! But for now, you get to see the traditional layout I created about the art class my DS and I just started! It's a Mommy and Me class and we both had such a great time! I love that he already loves art! His eyes just light up when he has a paintbrush or scissors in his hands! He must get that from me! (The scissors part anyways!)

Take The Cake and Layers of Happiness Templates

My sweet little boy just turned 3 last month! I can't believe how fast he is growing up! I just want to bottle up all of the memories I have with him and keep him little forever! It's true what they say, they really do grow too fast! :( He wanted a Diego birthday party and was so excited to choose his cake! When he saw that they had one that included Dora, Boots AND Diego he knew it was the one he wanted! Bethany of Scrappin' Daisies Designs just released this new kit called Take The Cake and I though it matched perfectly with his birthday cake!! I love the bright colors and fun cupcake elements! I just joined PhotoCowgirl's Creative Team and used one of her fabulous templates for this layout! I have been a big fan of PhotoCowgirl's templates for a long time so I am really excited to be a part of her team! The template I used is from Layers of Happiness (Single Photo) Templates. I love how her templates have really large photos. Small photos look great artistically, but when I really want to capture a precious moment, a large photo is what I want to see! I've always loved the look of blended photos in layouts. It's a really unique way to show off your photos! These Blended Templates by Studio Rosey Posey are a combination of a blended template and a mini kit all in one! You can move the elements around, change the shadowing and then add your own title and journaling. I used template 04 to create a wedding layout of my DH and I. All I did was change the journaling and add my photos and I must say that I love the results! Easy peasy!

If this fun and bright kit doesn't get you excited for spring, I don't know what will! (Did I mention I'm ready for spring yet??) It's called Fun Lovin' by Jacabean Designs and Marni Designs. I loved the yellow printed paper in this kit and decided I had to use it to make a triangle box! I wish it were easier to photograph a triangle box, but it's not. So, just for the record... it really is in the shape of a triangle! :p I just couldn't quite get it at an angle where you could tell without it looking funny. But I think I did a pretty good job of capturing the fun multi-dimensional flower! And since the flower is the most important part of the box, I guess it's okay that you can't tell in the picture it's a triangle! :p

Some people think that you can't use flowers when you scrap boy layouts. I am here to prove that you can! I love scrapping with flowers, and since my son is the main person that I scrap about, I use flowers frequently in layouts I create about him! Don't be worried that you will make the layout too feminine! It's all about the colors you choose and your background paper! That's why I love this new kit from JennCk Designs called Shine. The blue, green and neutral flowers make it the perfect "feminine" kit to use for a little boy! Notice the bold background? It makes the layout seem a bit more masculine too. I also like to try and to bring out the colors in his clothing - notice how his bright blue shirt matches the color scheme? It makes the layout seem more cohesive. And of course I had to make a hybrid! I absolutely loved the patterned papers in this kit and chose the white one with flowers to make this cute pillow box. I bought a big roll of the ribbon that I used at Walmart for $1.97. I thought that was a pretty good deal for a fairly large sized roll! Now to fill it with candy and choose who to give it to... I think the cute little boy in my first layout would love to receive a pillow box full of candy. Yes. Yes he would! When I showed it to him he said "Oh pretty box Mommy! I like it!" Love that little boy. He's the best!

I have been making a lot of hybrid projects lately! I love hybrid because I can create on the computer and then have a physical project too! Sometimes the mess of cutting with scissors can be so fun! (Well, I am a hairdresser, so I do love my scissors!!) I created these two fun hybrids with a new kit by Down This Road Designs called Best Wishes. The color scheme is to die for and the shabby feel is just fabulous! I found this tutorial on Paper Roses by ScrappyCath and I decided I had to make some roses! The shabby papers in this kit just looked like they needed to be made into roses! lol! Aren't they pretty? I had so much fun making them! I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with them - I will eventually use them to decorate something - but for now they are sitting on the shelf of my computer desk and every time I look at them they make me smile. I think that is a perfect use for them! :) Even my husband was impressed with the flowers. So thanks ScrappyCath for your awesome tutorial! My now beautified Computer Desk thanks you too! lol!

The next project I made is a fun card using a template from the "It's In The Cards Challenge" at Scrapmatters. Twice a month they have a hybrid card challenge and give out a FREE template! I have two fun new kits to show you from Studio Rosey Posey. The first one is called Techno Boy and it is full of fun media gadgets, stars and 3 alphas! I used it to scrap a photo of my son playing Playstation with his Daddy. My DH always gives him a controller that isn't plugged in, but he still thinks he is playing anyway. Happy New Year!! I can't believe that it's already 2011! 2010 went by so fast to me! I'm still in shock that Christmas is over with! I had a really great Holiday! One of my favorite memories this past Christmas season was decorating our Christmas tree with my little boy. He was so excited about the whole ordeal and it was pure magic! His face lit up every time he placed an ornament on the tree! I just love him! I used Angels Among Us by Scrappin' Daisies Designs to create my layout. I finally finished my little boy's brag book! I am so pleased with how it turned out! Isn't he so adorable? I think he is the cutest! I used Kaden by Scrappin' Daisies Designs and Chippy Mint by JennCk Designs to make it. I also used Braggers 1 Template Set by JennCk Designs (now retired). You might remember this post I made a while ago highlighting the kit Kaden. Bethany made this kit especially for me to match my little boy's photos! Didn't she do such a great job? Then after I started making some of the pages I remembered Chippy Mint by Jenn and thought it would add some variety and match perfectly as well! Seriously, isn't Hootenanny by Scrappin' Daisies Designs one of the cutest kits ever? I love all of the adorable owls and fun polka dots. I'm really loving those cute paper curled flowers right now too! Aren't they so fun? As you can see by my layout, this kit can be used for girl or boy photos! I love it's versatility! I also made some cards with this kit. My husband didn't really get the phrase "Owl Always Love You!" but I think it's cute! And that's all that matters, right? I never asked him his thoughts about "Thank Hooo Very Much!" :p My husband appreciate the crafts and scrapbook pages I make, but I'm not sure he always "gets" my addiction! lol! That's okay! I'm lovin' this collaboration kit from JennCk Designs and Stolen Moments Designs called Aviator. It has sort of a "vintagy" feel and I adore the color scheme! At the Children's Museum here they have this little airplane that the kids can sit in and pretend to fly. Every time we go there my DS loves the airplane and wants to sit in it forever! Usually to the point that I need to ask him to come out so another child can have a turn! So I thought this kit was perfect to scrap a picture of him at the Children's Museum! I used a template from Jenn's Dia de los Muertos Template Pack that I highlighted in the post below. Love Jenn's templates! They are fabulous! Fall is officially here! I know some of you are thinking "Fall has been here for a while!" but not here in Las Vegas! It was in the 90's until this past week! This week we've been having lots of rain and lots of cooler weather! It's nice to finally be able to wear a jacket after such a hot summer! I love, love the color scheme in JennCk Designs' new kit So Berry! And the elements are so pretty too! Lots of gorgeous flowers, berries and greenery! All perfect for clustering!! I love this beautiful kit by JennCk Designs called Tranquility. It's designed to compliment a kit she made a while ago called Serene. Jenn also made some gorgeous Bits and Clusters to go along with this kit! Jenn is so good at clustering, they add the perfect touch to your layout and seriously cut the time it takes to make a layout in half!! They also give great inspiration for clusters that you want to create on your own! In my top layout, I used one of the clusters in the very bottom right picture (and I added a flower to it). It looks great doesn't it? And then it helped me with ideas on how to make my own clusters on the other two photos. I'm pretty sure this is the greatest kit ever if you love making clusters with flowers! I really loved using it!

In May we went to San Diego for a family vacation and went to Mission Beach one night. It was really windy and getting really cold, but my husband couldn't resist letting my little boy have his first experience with the ocean. I have to admit that at first I really just wanted to go back to the hotel, but my husband said "No way!" and took my little boy down to the water! They ran up and down the beach and chased the waves while I took pictures! It was such a sweet experience watching them run and have fun. It reminded me to quit being such a complainer and enjoy the beautiful things in this world that God has given us. The top layout is of my husband taking my little boy down to the water to feel the ocean for the first time in his life! It kind of makes me cry that I almost didn't let him! But luckily I did, and I thought Low Tide by JennCk Designs was the perfect kit to document it with! It's kind of a precious picture when you know the whole story isn't it? :) I journaled about it in a different layout, but I loved how this kit brought out the beautiful sunset and the mysteriousness of the ocean!

About 3 months after our vacation was when I first started digital scrapbooking! My very first scrapbook page was a picture of me and my Dad in Hawaii! I had to post it so I could show y'all just how far I have come in my designs! haha! That was the only layout I created from that vacation until now! Out here in the Las Vegas Desert, we get lots of creepy crawly friends visiting our home often! The other day my husband found a lizard hanging out in our driveway and when he picked it up to show my little boy it jumped on his back! My little boy was unsure about it at first, but then he thought it was pretty funny! I thought it was pretty funny to watch my little boy! :) Good thing I carry a camera at all times, because Scrappin' Daisies new kit Boys & Crawly Things was the perfect kit to document our little friend with!! lol! I also made a fun hybrid project and filled a little bag with gummy worms! I just love that orange frog! Isn't he so cute? Whew! I have been scrapping a lot lately! I took a month off from Creative Teams and then I stepped down from a couple of them, so I feel like I have had a lot more time to just scrap when I wanna! When I was up in Utah I went with my sister to The Gateway Children's Discovery Museum. It is a fabulous place and my son loves it there! We went to an art class and my little one had his first go at water paints! I can't believe I waited this long to let him paint! He's a natural and had a blast! I recently went up to Utah to visit my family and we went to The Provo LDS Temple. There are beautiful flowers at The Temple this time of year and I was able to snap a couple of photos of my little one smelling the roses. I love the colors in Sweet 'n Sour by JennCk Designs. She also has a great Template Pack to go with the kit! I love me some templates, and I think Jenn's are awesome!! She just has such a great scrapping style, with lots of layers and clusters! Which I love! Of course I also had to make a hybrid with this fun kit, so I used one of her Send A Smile Card Templates. I think it turned out fabulously! Jenn's products are such great quality, I've had several comments about how the flowers look real instead of digital! It may just be my fabulous shadowing skills (lol!!) but I think it's because Jenn is great at offering quality digital products!
